ABOUT ME

Welcome to my website!

My name is Michael Burke. I was born and raised in the small town of Mexico, MO. I lived there for 18 years of my life. I went to High School at Father Tolton Catholic High School and was valedictorian of the first graduating class. Now I am at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a ballet major. I hope to become a professional dancer and dance as long as I can. I haven't decided what I want to do after that just yet. I'm thinking either teaching or dance therapy. I have two older sisters, a therapist and a soon-to-be special education teacher. My dad is a chef and my mom is a doctor (it made faking being sick really hard as a kid).

I started dance when I was a little kid because my oldest sister wanted to dance. My parents put all three of us in ballet. I hated it for the longest time and always tried to skip class and go to soccer or basketball instead. Now I am the only one left pursuing it. It's funny how things like that work out. I started to get serious about ballet somewhere around 8th or 9th grade. Since then, I've either had teachers from Missouri Contemporary Ballet, or was in the School of Missouri Contemporary Ballet. I am extremely grateful for my time there.

Outside of dance, I enjoy being outside. I am a disc golfer and am a member of my schools disc golf team, the DisCats. I also love rock climbing, hiking, and camping. I am an Eagle Scout and a Vigil Honor member. I also know how to juggle (I need something to do on my free time at the studio).

Other random facts about me are that I'm an INTJ. My five strengths are: strategy, competition, focus, achiever, and maximizer. I can sound like a wookie and an owl. My heritage is Irish, Scottish, English, Welsh, German, and a little bit of French. Also, bowties are the way to go.
